Who It’s For
For adults, youth or children who are struggling with an eating or food-related issue, and want to work one-on-one with our compassionate and highly-trained psychotherapists or dietitians (or both).
Our areas of expertise include:
- Eating disorders
- ARFID or very picky eating
- Nutrition for adolescents, teens, and children
- Body image or intuitive eating
- Metabolic or hormonal issues
- Mental health relating to food or eating
Together, we’ll explore all aspects of both physical and mental health, including food, stress management, sleep, movement, and boundary setting to help you learn to feed your body optimally, and without guilt.
How It Works
Working one-on-one, we’ll establish a treatment plan, nutritional goals and customized meal plans just for you. Together, we’ll explore all aspects of both physical and mental health, including food, stress management, sleep, movement, and boundary setting to help you learn to feed your body optimally, and without guilt.
Our therapists work to address the underlying and surrounding difficulties that are driving and maintaining the eating disorder. Our approach focuses on normalizing eating, identifying and eliminating disordered eating patterns, and creating a wholesome and balanced relationship to food.
Services
You’ll receive a tailored eating plan suited to your nutritional and psychological needs and appropriate to each stage of your recovery. Our goal is to help you learn how to eat without guilt, nourish your body and enjoy food. Our focus is on overall nutritional rehabilitation, not just weight restoration.
Because an eating disorder is a mental illness with damaging physical consequences, effective treatment requires both nutrition therapy and psychotherapy. Our therapists work to address the core emotional pain that’s driving the eating disorder, allowing the client to leave it behind.
Many people with eating issues are highly sensitive and this can manifest in a variety of ways including anxiety, depression, and obsessive compulsive disorder. We aim to help clients become the best versions of themselves so they can move beyond the overwhelming emotions that are keeping them stuck in rigid, unhealthy thinking.
Our therapists are highly experienced in treating trauma. We embrace diversity and aim to create a safe environment where clients are encouraged to embrace and express their unique identities. When needed, we work with parents or spouses to create a system of support.
For those who need more intensive care, we offer an individualized treatment program. A case coordinator helps to navigate a smooth transition and integration from hospital or treatment center back to the home environment.
We collaborate closely with the clinical team at the client’s hospital or treatment centre to ensure continuity of care. We provide individualised psychotherapy and nutrition therapy as needed, along with support to develop healthy daily routines. We also provide daily in-person or virtual check-ins and personalised nutrition support. This may include grocery shopping, basic food preparation and cooking skills, in addition to meal planning.
For those waiting for residential or hospital programs, a higher level of care in the community can be provided.
People on the road to recovery just need a little extra support along the way. Our coaching and meal support services are available for adults and youth who need a supportive helping hand.
Based on your needs, our team will create a personalized check in plan, which may involve in-home or virtual cooking and meal support, our unique Plan-to-Plate service, cooking demos, or a combination of these:
- In-Home Cooking and Meal Support – Working in the comfort of your own home, our dietitians will help bridge your transition to recovery by offering grocery shopping, cooking and eating support. We’ll help you to overcome your food phobias so you can live a manageable and functional life in your own home.
- Plan-to-Plate – Have wholesome, therapeutic meals and snacks prepared for you in accordance with your recovery meal plan, eliminating the anxiety of planning, shopping, cooking and portioning. The meals you’ll receive are based on an individual assessment of psychological readiness for exposure to fear foods. Support for meal completion is provided in person, electronically, or by phone.
Cooking Demos – In a small group setting or individually, learn foundational cooking skills to support your recovery. Topics include how to follow a recipe, food safety, proper meal portioning, batch cooking and how to repurpose leftovers.
